Tautavelissime
Syrah, Grenache, Carignan
One of the Roussillon Villages reds, Tautavel, AOP
France, Côtes du Roussillon Villages Tautavel, AOC, Tautavelissime, Gérard Bertrand, 2014
Introduction
Gérard Bertrand is the producer of this limited production of red wine, just between Languedoc and the Spanish border, north west of the town of Perpignan. The Bernard group (‘La Culture du Goût’) owns various estates in the Languedoc and for Tautavel it works in partnership with growers from this highly rated wine region, producing 5 reds in this range and with the bottling by Bertrand in Narbonne.
Côtes du Roussillon Villages is an appellation of the sub-region of the northern half of the Roussillon region, from the best slopes in the valley of the river Agly. They are all reds, with some stricter appellation regulations than the regular Roussillon wines. They are all blends, with the proportions set and, in this case, once blended, aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.
