Eaglehawk
Shiraz
‘Barossa should focus on what it does best: full-bodied shiraz’, according to Wolfgang Blass
Australia, South Eastern Australia, Eaglehawk, Shiraz, Wolf Blass, 2013
Introduction
What can one say! 80 Kilometres north from Adelaide, South Eastern Australia, home of Wolff Blass, near the small town of Nuriootpa, an area of wine making and surrounded by famous names in wine production. Wolf Blass started in 1966 making his own wine, producing eventually an extensive range of quality wines and is nowadays owned by Australian-based Treasury Wine Estates, former part of Fosters.
Born in Germany, Wolfgang Blass settled in Australia in 1961, with a working knowledge of wine making. Employed in the wine industry he started to make his own near Nuriootpa, on Bilyara Road, housed in a tin shed. Bilyara stands for the Aboriginal word of Eaglehawk and it became the symbol of the winery.

Insights:
Domestically and internationally award winning became soon a regular feature and the winery now offers a consistent range of red and white wines, using a presentation of categories, well explained on their website. The Wolf Blass 7 wine regions are spread out over South Eastern Australia, with Barossa as their heartland. The distinctive styles of wines have blending as their core focus and it is a major wine producer in Australia. The mother company is represented across the globe, in New Zealand, California and Argentina, to mention a few.
