Farmers of Wine
Negroamaro, Zinfandel
Farmers of Wine is from Enoitalia, a new project preserving the original skills of the wine makers of Puglia, ensuring a future in wine making for the next generations.
Farmers of Wine, by Enoitalia, Vino Rosso, Italian Red Blend, NV
Introduction
Puglia is situated in the heel of Italy and at one time an area that was often producing juice for distillation and blending, producing more wine than the whole of Australia. It is now upcoming, not as far yet though, but comparable to the French Languedoc region, creating interesting wines.
This wine is made from ‘authentic Italian grapes’ Negroamaro and Zinfandel (also known as Primitivo), using the alberello, meaning ‘small tree’, creating low yields and highest quality, together with good weather conditions. This regional and traditional way of producing wines is upheld by Enoitalia, originally based in Bardolino, nr. Verona, north Italy and its selected farmers.

Insights:
Enoitalia, run by the Pizzolo family, started its wine business in 1986, becoming one of the main players in the Italian wine market, with its own brands, as well as doing customization of wines for their partners with their own labels. Puglia is also known for the growing of olives, as well as being ‘hot and flat’.
