At one time rumours around the devil were used to keep you away from this wine.
Chile, Valle Central, Casillero del Diablo, Reserva, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2012
Introduction
These rumours were used more than 100 years ago, now giving the name to the wine, ‘The Devil’s Cellar’. Produced by Concha Y Toro, in Chile, based in Puento Alto, just south from Santiago. Well known producer of many Chilean wines, this Cabernet Sauvignon is from the Valle Central region, whilst having more vineyards throughout Chile and neighbouring Argentina.
This wine is part of the Reserva range, overseen by their wine maker Marcelo Papa. Founded in 1883, by Dom Melchor de Santiago Concha Y Toro and his wife, using initially imported vines from Bordeaux. The company developed itself strongly during the 20th century, now exporting to over 130 countries.

Insights:
Some of the other brands in the Concha Y Toro group are Viña Maipo, Cono Sur and Isla Negra, making it the biggest wine producer in Latin America, with influences as well beyond its Chilean borders around the world, for instance in California. Having been around for such a long time the company is being respected as one of the ‘ grandfather wine companies’ of the country, together with Santa Rita and Santa Carolina.
