Teroldego
A grape variety, nearly exclusive to the Trentino region, north Italy
Italy, Trentino, Cavit, Mastri Vernacoli, Teroldego, IGT ,Vigneti Delle Dolomiti, 2014

Introduction
The Californians see it as close to the Zinfandel grape and elsewhere in the world it is not settling. Cavit in Trento is the producer of the wine, part of the Mastri Vernacoli range, which is very extensive, from white, sparkling to various reds. A cooperative, uniting 11 cellars and looking after 4500 associated grape growers. Cavit covers all the sides of the wine production.

Cavit started in 1950 with a few growers and eventually became a major force, representing the wines in the Trento region. This wine is from just north of Trento, as IGT Vigneti Delle Dolomiti, one of the Italian wine classification areas.

Insights:
This grape can turn up as Teroldego Rotaliano, which narrows it down to a production near Trento, Trentino, with a limited amount of over 300 producers and has its own DOC. Cavit is keen on a strong environmental approach, covering certification, sustainability, reduction of energy and use of water, as well as a very strong involvement in a project on optimising vineyard management; the right grape in the right environment, with the right care.
