Introduction
Domaine Troussel was founded though in 1978 and is based in Carpentras, halfway between the town of Avignon to the south west and Mont Ventoux to the north east (a very well known mountain, especially in combination with the Tour de France). However, the family has been making wine since the 18th century, if not well before. The Ventoux area itself has been known as a wine growing region for over 2000 years.
The Troussel estate has expanded over the recent years, with a large proportion of vineyard AOC wines and a small part for table wines. The winery has its own wine under its own label, red, rosé and white. The estate is open to the public. With Mont Ventoux in the back ground, they grow a wide variety of vines and for this wine, Domaine Troussel Ventoux, they blend Grenache and Syrah. For their reds they also have Carignan and Mourvèdre.

They produce also wines for other outlets, such as this wine version, which has been marketed through a major French supermarket chain. It was in 2008 that Côtes du Ventoux AOC became Ventoux AOC, with 51 wine communes and is part of the Vaucluse department. The Luberon wine region is just to the south, together forming the most south-eastern part of the southern Rhône region. Les Truffières – Truffles, a delicacy, ‘haute cuisine’, found in south eastern France, incl. Ventoux.
