Introduction
This one is Château du Plantier, with all its usual regional characters, harvested from vineyards in and around Sauveterre-de-Guyenne and produced by the Lavergne family. Several generations have kept the family tradition going, now with father and sons Bernard and Fabien. Entre-Deux-Mers is an area between the rivers Garonne and Dordogne, to the east of the town of Bordeaux.
The Lavergne family are linked up to Producta Vignobles, established in 1949, a cooperative wine merchant, representing 2500 winemakers and around 50 appellations, covering most wine areas in Bordeaux, as well as being involved in all types of wine services. They have been pioneering in Bordeaux wines for years, including the first introduction of AOC wines into supermarkets in 1960, among various other groundbreaking initiatives over the years. They have recently opened an office in China.

Insights:
Entre-Deux-Mers produces quite a lot of reds, usually ending up as just a Bordeaux AOC. There is however slowly more movement in stepping up the quality in the whole region. There are a number of AOC’s between the 2 rivers, such as Cadillac and Loupiac, with obviously the mighty Graves just on the other side of the river Garonne.
