Brouilly
Gamay
One of the Beaujolais Cru’s, in the most southern part of Burgundy, the often reliable Brouilly
France, Beaujolais, Brouilly, Cave du Chãteau des Loges, Brouilly AC, 2011

Introduction
Cave du Chãteau des Loges is in the village of Le Pérréon, just north-west from Villefranche-sur-Saône. Brouilly is one of 10 Crus in the Beaujolais, with neighbours like Régnié and Morgon to the north. In the centre of Brouilly, there is a smaller Cru of its own, Côte de Brouilly, where wines grow on the volcanic slopes of Mont Brouilly, which have a reputation of being suitable for ageing even a bit longer.

Cave du Château des Loges is by origin a private residence and now owned by a cooperative of 150 growers, with a modern winery. At present the recently restored château is being operated as a successful restaurant with various meeting facilities and holds an extensive wine list, including its own wines obviously. The Beaujolais region is home to the Gamay grape and 2011 was a good year for the region.

Wine specifics
Ready to drink. Medium-bodied, fruity flavours, pleasant finish. Serving: Good with all types of meat, pasta and cheese. The Beaujolais Crus, like Brouilly, tend not to mention the name or region of Beaujolais on their labelling. Wine obtained in France. Cork.
Insights:
Beaujolais is the most southern region of Bourgogne. Some other Crus are: Fleurie, Juliénas, Chénas, Moulin-à-Vent and Chiroubles, with Brouilly being the largest area. Château des Loges also produces a Beaujolais Nouveau, also made from the Gamay grape and is traditionally released for sale around the Globe on the third Thursday of November, supported by the usual marketing of being the first.
