Plan de Dieu, one of the reliable Villages; one to taste
France, Chateau Goudray, Plan de Dieu, Côtes du Rhône Villages, AOP, 2011

Introduction
The Château falls under Les Vignobles de La Courançonne (vineyards of ..) owned by the Meffre family for 12 generations, which include Château Courançonne in Violès, Plan de Dieu and Château Goudray, based in Séguret. The history of wine making at Château Goudray goes back to the 17th century and was well kept according to the village of Séguret achives. In 1900 the Meffre family acquired the estate.

Recovering from the phylloxera years production got better and in the early 1920’s wines were sold to Paris by the barrel, eventually it became bottles. Through years of trial and error, it became a key factor that it was quality that they wanted and which is still their motto, with production modernised and increased over the years. Between the 2 Châteaux they produce a variety, such as Côte du Rhône, Plan de Dieu, Séguret and Rasteau.

Under stricter requirements than for the Côtes du Rhône Villages, eighteen of the communes of the appellation are authorized to add their respective village name on the label. Plan de Dieu since 2011 (‘God’s Plain’). Watch out for these more and more upcoming and respected wines, great reliability, as well as being very good value.
