Riesling
A dry riesling from a renowned Alsace producer, who has been around for around 100 years
France, Alsace, Haut-Rhin, Louis Sipp, Steinacker, Riesling, AOC, 2014

Introduction
Louis Sipp is based in the main street of Ribeauvillé, Haut-Rhin, producing their fine wines in their vineyards around them, all within a few miles of the village. Steinacker specifies the area, parcels of land, within the village borders, at the bottom of the valley of Rhine terraces, with the Vosges mountains protecting it on the West.

Louis Sipp started in the First World War and is currently still run by the family, since 1996 with Etienne and Martine Sipp at the helm, who transferred their production into organic farming, Agriculture Biologique, in 2005 and were recognised as such in 2008. The latter means that the terroirs define even more the individual qualities of the wine,

Insights:
On the label Louis Sipp’s name is combined with ‘Finesse, Harmonie, Authenticité’. The Haut-Rhin wine area is a narrow strip, taking you through a very colourful, attractive and diverse number of wine villages, such as Hunawihr, Riquewihr and Bergheim. Louis Sipp is well recognised among other wine family business names, such as Hugel, Dopff, Humbrecht and Trimbach, the latter also based in Ribeauvillé. Steinacker is a ‘lieu-dits’, naming the area where the grapes are grown.
